Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Response

Nepal is one of the world most disaster-prone countries. IRDC Nepal works with communities, local governments and national authorities to reduce disaster risk and strengthen resilience.

• Community disaster risk reduction training and drills
• Formation and training of Community Disaster Management Committees
• Construction of disaster-resilient housing and community shelters
• Early warning system installation in flood-prone areas
• Emergency relief distribution and post-disaster psychosocial support

Impact

Following the 2015 Gorkha earthquake, IRDC was among the first responders, providing relief and reconstruction support to over 10,000 earthquake-affected families.
